Get to Know the Coaches
Matt serves as head coach of the South High Women's Soccer program and is entering his 3rd season as part of the program, his first as the Varsity Head Coach. Matt grew up in Eau Claire, WI where he played soccer every chance he could get. After high school, Matt enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps which took him overseas to Okinawa, Japan. While in Japan, he took part in several community outreach soccer clinics, working with local kids on fundamental soccer skills. He also played on various Company, Battalion and All-Base teams against other military units and local Japanese teams. After returning from overseas duty, Matt played in local leagues throughout North Carolina until his exit from the Marines in July 2017.
He started college at University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie, WI in the fall of 2017 and played with the men’s soccer club team. Matt coached the Menomonie High School girls’ varsity team as the Goalkeeper Coach in 2018 and as the Assistant Varsity Coach during the 2019 season. While still in Menomonie, Matt was a Skills Trainer and Goalkeeper Coach for the Menomonie Area Soccer Association. In his spare time he enjoys traveling, working out, and spending time outside. |
